You may not give a damn about why I chose Zi, if that is the case you have to wonder what you are doing on this page, however, if you were having sleepless nights, pondering this very conundrum then prepare yourself…. the explanation is here.
Zi is a courtesy name bestowed on those who are coming of age in East Asian cultures. More common in China and Chinese influenced countries such as Japan, Vietnam and Korea. It is also known as ‘Style name’.
If you are male, Zi replaces your given name, once you turn 21 for women this is usually with marriage.
Now, I guess I am breaking a few rules here, I am not Asian or married and despite being over 21, I am female not male. However, good ole Wiki tells me ‘One also may adopt a self-chosen courtesy name’.
So from here forth, rather than just ‘Noodle’, I shall be ‘ZiNoodle….. and it was done.
Zi…born out of educating oneself with culture because ‘The’ was taken.
Oh and if you are wondering where noodle came from…. that was a name bestowed on my by my brother and our house mate due to my noodle like hair… and now you know!
